CTET Exam Notification, Eligibility & Forms – Online Application Form

Central Teachers’ Eligibility Test (CTET) is a benchmark test, which is organized by CBSE at the national level to find the right teachers to teach from Class I to Class VIII. It will be held in 82 towns / cities, covering all Indian states and in two centers abroad (Dubai and Riyadh).

CTET has been started as an offshoot of the right to education (RTE) Act, 2009 for the implementation of which a large number of teachers would be needed. Passing CTET would make it possible for you to get a job in Central Schools (Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalaya) on this point. But in the future state Govt. as well as private schools are expected to use CTET selection of teachers.

So if you have a B. Sc / BA / B. Com graduate and want to take a teaching job at the school, CTET something for you. CTET are valid for 7 years.

Here are some statistics for you on the first CTET examination (held on June 26, 2011):

  • Number of candidates who have applied for CTET 2011: 7,94,080.
  • Number of candidates who actually appeared in the examination: 7,15,050.

Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) details:-

Educational qualifications:

Candidates who are appearing for CTET primary stage should have following qualifications:
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (OR) Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002. (OR) Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). (OR) Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (OR) Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education

Candidates who are appearing for CTET Elementary Stage should have following qualifications:
Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (OR) Graduation with minimum 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed). (OR) Graduation with minimum 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (OR) Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). (OR) Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed. (OR) Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed

Schedule of Examination:

1. Paper I: 26-06-2011 (9-30 AM to 11 AM) – For an aspiring teacher for classes I to V.

2. Paper II: 26-06-2011 (12- 30 PM to 2 PM) – For an aspiring teacher for classes VI to VIII.

Pattern of Examination
The CTET examination will be of objective type multiple choice question (MCQ’s). There will be no negative marking. There will be 2 papers of CTET.
(i) Paper I will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V.
(ii) Paper II will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII.
Note: A person who intents to be a teacher for both levels (classes I to V and classes VI to VIII) will have to appear in both the papers (Paper I and Paper II).

Application fee:

Eligible candidates have to pay 500/- as application fee for general candidates (SC/ST/PWD candidates have to pay 250/- as application fee) in any one of the following ways
Candidates have to draw demand draft in favour of Secretary, Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi, payable at Delhi (or) candidates have to pay fee by using their Debit / Credit Cards

How to apply:

Eligible candidates have to fill the application form through website www.ctet.nic.in . Take print out copies of filled application form, send it along with photocopies of relevant documents by registered / speed post on or before 30-11-2011 to the following address “The Assistant Secretary (CTET Unit), Central Board of Secondary Education, ‘Shiksha Sadan’, 17, Rouse Avenue, New Delhi – 110002”.

  • Candidates have to visit website for online application form & details
  • Candidates have to fill the online application with correct & relevant data.
  • After submitting the application, a confirmation page with registration no is generated
  • Candidates have to pay application fee through the registration no for both demand draft or Debit card / Credit card

5. Candidates have to submit online application on or before 25-11-2011

Closing date for the submission of online application: 25-11-2011
Last date for the receipt of application by post: 30-11-2011
Written test: 29-01-2012
Paper-I: 10:00am to 11:30am
