A girl was born star couple Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan in a private hospital here Wednesday morning.
The child, their first child, was born at Seven Hills Hospital. Mother and daughter were both doing well.
“It’s a girl!” Abhishek, 35, posted on the micro-blogging site Twitter.com. He had recently said that he would have a daughter who looked like Aishwarya.
Proud grandfather Amitabh Bachchan could not control his happiness and tweeted: “I AM Dada to the sweetest little girl, A Dada ji … ecstatic.”
Hospital sources said that the delivery was normal and got a few minutes before 10 at. The Bachchan and Rai families were present for the important occasion.
Aishwarya, 38, developed contractions about 4 am and was taken to the labor room where the delivery took place after almost six hours.
The actress is on the fifth floor of the luxurious private hospital in Andheri east.
The hospital had booked three rooms on the floor – one for Aishwarya, the other for the Bachchan family and the third for the Rai family. The entire floor was kept out of bounds to all but the two families.
The hospital has been under tight security for the last three days in anticipation of the youngest member of the Bachchan family.
Aishwarya was hospitalized Monday night, according to spokesman her.
The Bachchan family had waited for the baby’s arrival a few days and prepare your child welcome.
The girl is Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan third grandchild for Agastya and Navy Naveli – children of his daughter and son-in-law shweta Nikhil Nanda.
