Review: Piranha 3D is exactly the type of cheese I love. It is a loving throwback to the old school, used the blood n ‘tits movie producers like Roger Corman to churn on a dozen in the seventies and eighties. Within Ving Rhames says “eat this muthfuckas” while using a boat propeller to slaughter hundreds of piranhas, you would have to be a hell of a spoilsport not to have at least some fun. The last 20 minutes are completely crazy, and you’re unlikely to see more gore on the screen in another horror flick in years.

History: Piranha (3D) is one of those films to be shown at Film Institute as an example to budding directors things they should not do. This is a gore-flick that gives you hands on experience with what happens when a group of scantily clad women come into contact with a bunch of hungry piranhas 3D. Alexander Aja wanted to recreate the 1978 classic “Piranha” movie, but he ended up destroying an entire genre. The overall result of the star ensemble cast is sad to say the least, but the worst performer will be piranhas.
The piranhas are not scary at all; their actions are cruel to it. The movie does not scare the public, but detest them all the way to the end. The whole premise of “Piranha (3D)” is not credible, and leaves you bewildered and confused at the end. If you do not want to ruin Sunday, stay away from this film and take something else, it’s certainly not worth a dime.
