The leaders offered floral tributes to her Memorial Shakti Sthal on the banks of Yamuna.The nation Saturday commemorate former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 94th Birth Anniversary of President Pratibha Patil and Vice President Hamid Ansari with prominent personalities who have paid rich tribute to the leader.

Besides Patil and Ansari, UPA leader Sonia Gandhi, Congress secretary Rahul Gandhi, Union ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad, Kamal Nath, Sushil Kumar Shinde and Krishna Tirath and Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia were among those who visited the memorial.

Gandhi, born on 19 November 1917 in the politically influential Nehru family, was the first female prime minister of India. Her father Jawaharlal Nehru was a central figure in the Indian independence movement and first Prime Minister of independent India.

After Nehru’s death in 1964, she became a Rajya Sabha member and joined the Lal Bahadur Shastri cabinet as Minister for Information and Broadcasting.

She held three consecutive terms as prime minister from 1966 to 1977. The Congress leader was assassinated on 31 October 1984.

CTET has been started as an offshoot of the right to education (RTE) Act, 2009 for the implementation of which a large number of teachers would be needed. Educational qualifications:

Candidates who are appearing for CTET primary stage should have following qualifications:
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (OR) Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002. Candidates who are appearing for CTET Elementary Stage should have following qualifications:

Schedule of Examination:

1. Paper I: 26-06-2011 (9-30 AM to 11 AM) – For an aspiring teacher for classes I to V.

2. Paper II: 26-06-2011 (12- 30 PM to 2 PM) – For an aspiring teacher for classes VI to VIII.

Pattern of Examination
The CTET examination will be of objective type multiple choice question (MCQ’s). There will be no negative marking. There will be 2 papers of CTET.
(i) Paper I will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V.
(ii) Paper II will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII.
Note: A person who intents to be a teacher for both levels (classes I to V and classes VI to VIII) will have to appear in both the papers (Paper I and Paper II).
