Each year many movies that belong to different genres are published in India. Out Of which a handful of films are able to hit the jackpot at box-office, and most movies either fail miserably or just go unnoticed. Therefore, the total thin top 5 record movies in 2010:
1. Dabangg:
Undoubtedly, belonged in 2010 to Salman Khan Starrer blockbuster film “Dabangg ‘. The film received an overwhelming response of box-office on 10 September 2010. Every single screen cinemas nationwide reported 100 percent occupancy, while the multiplex reported somewhere between 80 to 100 percent occupancy. The audience liked ‘Dabangg “so much that it ended up breaking opening day collection record in the 2009 blockbuster film ’3 Idiots’ by grossing Rs. 14.5 crore.
For three weeks the film stayed audience favorite throughout India, and the total revenue amounted to Rs. 212 crore. It was even more appreciated abroad and managed to make a good business there. As Per Box Office India, the opening of “Dabangg” was “earth shattering” and the audience’s response was “incredible”. ‘Dabangg “marked the debut of three people in Bollywood. It was the directorial debut of Abhinav Kashyap, launch of Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter Sonakshi Sinha, and was the first film from Arbaaz Khan Productions.
2. Robot/Endhiran:
South superstar Rajnikanth and Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan stars ‘Robot’ (otherwise known as ‘Endhiran’) was created and published in three languages, Tamil, Hindi and Telugu on 1 October 2010. “Robot” opened to overwhelming response and was immediately crowd favorite, nationally and internationally. Apparently, the film made history in the United States as tickets to all three versions of the movie sold like hot cakes.
The film went on to receive widespread critical acclaim nationally and internationally. At the end of the first weekend, “Robot” collected Rs. 117 crore worldwide, from all its versions and became the highest grossing Tamil Film and the second-highest grossing Indian films.
3. My Name Is Khan:
Shahrukh Khan-Kajol starrer “My Name Is Khan” opened to the breakneck response on February 12, 2010 not only in India but also in overseas market. Each single screen center and multiplexes in India reported 100 percent opening day coating. Just as it opened to packed houses in India, the film also received an overwhelming response at the international level. It made the record industry in countries like USA, UK, Australia, Middle East, New Zealand and others.
MNIK had run into controversy before its release, because of SRK comment on Pakistan cricketers from IPL, but it still managed to perform exceptionally well, even after meeting strong opposition from the Sena workers all over India. The movie grossed a sum of 182.75 crore and managed to get positive reviews from all the best critics of India.
4. Raajneeti:
Acclaimed filmmaker Prakash Jha’s ambitious socio-political thriller movie ‘Raajneeti “opened to the breakneck response on June 4, 2010 at box-office.” Raajneeti “had originally been led into some controversy because some people thought that the action was based on the Gandhi family. The film was highly appreciated by audiences and critics for its depth on-the-edge drama and power-packed performances of the cast.
The film recorded the second biggest opening day collections (Rs. 10.50 crore) in India for ’3 Idiots ‘, and also managed to break the record with ’3 Idiots’ (for opening weekend) in New Zealand and Australia.
5. Golmaal 3:
Rohit Shetty’s third installment of the blockbuster film, ‘Golmaal‘ comedy received mixed reviews from critics, but managed to woo the audience. Many people believe that “Golmaal 3 ‘gave new dimensions to the comedy genre films in India and was as hilarious as its previous two installments.
‘Golmaal 3′ could have failed to impress critics on a larger scale, and it did well not only in India but also internationally. It grossed an incredible amount of 117.14 crore over the world. Overall, 2010 was a good year for Bollywood in all aspects, and it is now eagerly until 2011, when almost all the big stars have a movie lined up for release.
